Applying for a character at JipangMUCK:
JipangMUCK is not intended to be a place for those new to MUCKing to get started into online Role Playing. The players admitted into JipangMUCK will be those that the staff considers both capable and experienced. While we do not inquire into your history of online role playing, your experience in doing so will usually become quite clear to us based on your application. As such, you will want to focus on writing this application in a manner that is going to impress whoever is responsible for reviewing it. Your name and email address will be kept confidential. Please make sure to read the page on JipangMUCK's theme and setting, as well as the Acceptable Character policy.
1) Your real name:
2) Contact email address:
3) If this is an @name request or an alt, indicate the character you want @named, or your alt, here:
4) Indicate the series your character comes from. Put 'original' if it is a character of your own making:
5) Tell us about the character you are applying for. You will want to focus on how your character will fit into the setting and theme of JipangMUCK. If taking an established character from a game or anime series, a demonstration of understanding on that character’s canon background will be important. But more important is a thorough explanation about the character in the JipangMUCK setting. Remember to discuss your character’s history, your character’s personality, and explore in some detail some special highlights that make your character the individual they are now. Special attention must also be paid in describing what it is your character can do, in terms of your character’s powers, as this information will be saved and barring Role Played growth for your character on your part, will be the extent of your character’s ‘powered’ abilities. The more detail you provide, the better impression we are able to get of your ideas.
6) Finally, as the last step of your application, you must submit a public background that will be available to other players. Your public background isn’t necessarily ‘The Facts’ on your character. Instead, it is supposed to be the kind of information that someone might pick up about your character were they to ask around a bit. For example, one role playing a villain wouldn’t likely list all of their wicked schemes and lofty ambitions in their background, but instead would likely describe the public front that such a character maintains in order to get around publicly with minimal hassle. The length of this background is up to you, but you should try to include 'hooks' that might help other players get their character involved with yours.
7) Once you have completed your application, email it to AkariSensei@hotmail.com. To make sorting through these easier, please format your subject as:
JipangMUCK App: <The name of the character the application is for>
Example: JipangMUCK App: Akari
Your application will be reviewed by one or more members of the staff. When applying for certain characters from some casts, a follow up email may be sent back to your email address, with a prompt for you to elaborate on something about your character. Once you have submitted the answer to this prompt, a final decision will be sent back to you via email. Those applying for minor characters or originals may or may not get a follow up email like that, according to the discretion of the staff. Note that applications of 2k or less (this amounts to about 2 short paragraphs or less on your character) will not get a reply.
Once accepted, you will be sent logon information for the character in question. Once you are set up with the character, please be sure to speak with someone on staff about an interview. We like to get to know the players in a one-on-one you can't get out of reading an application. Be thinking about what you want to do with the character, what you'd like to see on the game itself, and of other similiar matters; for these matters will be asked after in a general 'getting to know you and your character' session. For the most part, even alts will be expected to undergo an interview - so we know your character and hopes for it as well as we get to know you.
Note: If at any time, the hotmail address does not seem to be working, you can submit your application to Nakoruru@jipangmuck.dynodns.net instead. There may be a longer turn around time at that address, so it's best to use it only when the other one is not working.
